Clynelish 24 Years - That Boutique-y Whisky CoClynelish 24 yo (49,7%, That Boutique-y Whisky Co 2018, Batch #4, 267 btl.)

Nose: waxed fabric, pears and gooseberries at first. Then cigar boxes, camphor, a little minty tobacco. Celeriac. Saffron. Some oak shavings and vanilla as well. Just a faint chalky note. Not very classic perhaps, quite rounded but it’s very good nonetheless.

Mouth: no, not a typical one. Quite malty and sweet, with some creamy coconut, a hint of fruit (or fruit liqueur), more freshly cut wood. Subtle pepper. Plums, greengages, grassy notes. Some wax too.

Finish: medium long, with herbal honey, spices and gingerbread.

Not a classic Clynelish, less waxy notes and a modern oak influence. Without preconceptions: very good whisky. Not for Clynelish puristst though, and expensive, check Master of Malt.

Score: 88/100
