Bourbon Whiskey #1 24 Years (Boutique-y Whisky)

A 24 year-old bourbon whiskey no less! It comes from an undisclosed distillery and was bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Co.

A huge bottling by the way, close to 9000 bottles. This kind of yield leaves you thinking where it came from and how they got hold of dozens of barrels of this age. Overstock, somehow?

Nose: nice, lots of cinnamon syrup, leathery notes, pecan nuts and brown sugar. Vanilla filled croissants. Sweet, jammy dark fruits with plenty of rum soaked raisins. Latte. A little minty wood and carpenter notes which adds brightness. So far so good.

Mouth: rich and oaky, but not too biting, with hints of eucalyptus oil, lots of cinnamon and clove now. Toasted notes and molasses, hints of sour berries. Leathery touches.

Finish: long, on menthol and sweet berries. Baking spice.

This is rich, reasonably complex bourbon with a nice woody side that is not over the top. This used to be heavily discounted over at Master of Malt but the original price is a little too high in my opinion.

Score: 87/100
