Glen Elgin 1995 (Asta Morris)

Glen Elgin 1995 (Asta Morris)

The latest batch of Asta Morris bottlings includes this Glen Elgin 1995. It’s a distillery and vintage we’ve seen before and came to like a lot. Certainly the highlight among Bert’s latest releases.

Glen Elgin 24 yo 1995 (49,1%, Asta Morris 2020, ex-bourbon cask, 170 btl.)

Nose: very lively and fruity. Green apples, honeydew melons, peaches and gooseberries. Hints of green tea and citrus peel. Touches of varnish and mint. A light floral edge as well, like fresh laundry.

Mouth: same fruit bowl, with apples and pears, citrus (lemon sherbet, grapefruit zest, ginger lemonade), maybe unripe pineapple and light honeys. More waxy notes now, always a nice touch. Light pepper and cardamom but oak is definitely not the main element here.

Finish: medium length, fresh, slightly green with waxy fruits and mild spice.

You know we like this bright, fruity and fresh style, even though it’s not the most complex or wide profile. Simply good spirit in refill wood. All of these Glen Elgins are nice, this is no different. Around € 145.
