Springbank 27 yo 1993 (51,3%, Whiskybroker for IAAS, cask #26)
Nose: chalk and wet gravel, lemons, a little aspirin and Barbour grease, seashells and grassy touches… crystal-clean Springbank. Gorse and new leather. Hints of quince jelly, grapefruit and warm waxy notes after a while, making it a little rounder, but this is not about the fruits of course.
Mouth: naked, with a big salinity, dried herbs, mustard and this slight hint of carbolic soap that Springbank can have. Light menthol, hints of kiwi and lemon zest. Plenty of chalky notes again. A little heady perhaps, with a lot of high-pitched, almost ethereal notes and just a light base, if you know what I mean.
Finish: medium length, drier and more leafy, always with this chalky mouthfeel.
