Glenlossie 1975 (TWA & The Nectar)

Around 2011 a big parcel of Glenlossie 1975 casks appeared from independent bottlers like The Whisky Agency. Today we’re reviewing one of the early ones, a joint bottling by TWA in Germany and The Nectar in Belgium.

Glenlossie 1975 - Whisky Agency & The NectarGlenlossie 35 yo 1975 (51,6%, The Whisky Agency & The Nectar 2011, ex-bourbon hogshead, 195 btl.)

Nose: starts waxy, with meadow flowers and hay, as well as some damp oak. Maybe wet wool.  Plain malt too. Hints of lemon / vanilla scented candles, walnuts and light tobacco. Very light cinnamon and vanilla. Nice.

Mouth: same really, though more gentle than you’d think from the ABV. Hay, a certain damp side, but also nice fruity notes now. Pear, maybe soft tropical notes, all covered in an old-style waxiness. Also fresh green herbs. Tobacco again towards the end.

Finish: long, rather jammy, with light vanilla and honey.

A dram with lots of positive sides, not least the overall old style and warm fruitiness. But it stays very mellow, perhaps a little shy. Definitely interesting though.

Score: 88/100
