Deanston Brandy / Bunnahabhain Moine Bordeaux

Bunnahabhain Palo Cortado Cask and more…

The Distill group (Bunnahabhain, Deanston and others) have announced six limited editions accross their single malt portfolio:

  • Tobermory 2005 (12yo) Fino Cask Finish, RRP £ 110
  • Ledaig 1998 Oloroso finish (19yo), RRP £ 130
  • Ledaig 1998 PX finish (19yo), RRP £ 150
  • Deanston 2008 Brandy finish, RRP £ 60
  • Bunnahabhain 2008 Mòine Bordeaux Red Wine Matured, RRP £ 75
  • Bunnahabhain 21 Years Palo Cortado Finish, RRP £ 275

Now that Palo Cortado finish looks really interesting. It is a type of sherry that we rarely see for whisky maturation. Too bad we don’t have further information so far.

Update: the Bunnahabhain Bordeaux Cask is already in at Master of Malt

Red Spot 15 Years whiskey

Red Spot 15 Year Old

A new expression at the top of the Irish Spot whiskey range: Red Spot 15 Years will sit above the 12 year-old Yellow Spot. It is matured in a combination of American bourbon casks, Spanish sherry butts and Marsala wine casks. Bottled at 46% ABV.

Arran 21 Year Old

Arran 21 Year Old

Not a big surprise, as we’re seeing a slightly older expression almost every year, but still: there’s an Arran 21 Years around the corner, bottled at 46% ABV.

Ailsa Bay Sweet Smoke

Ailsa Bay 1.2 Sweet Smoke

Lowland distillery Ailsa Bay will release Ailsa Bay 1.2 Sweet Smoke, which replaces the former (only) expression Ailsa Bay single malt.

It is said to be a brand evolution (already?), with a slightly different bottle look. It is also said to be peatier, but that’s just 22 ppm and the old one was 21 ppm. It is bottled at 48.9% ABV without an age statement. Available for around € 65 in September.
