Old Pulteney 2004 - Whisky Exchange #128Old Pulteney 2004 (62,1%, OB for The Whisky Exchange 2018, first-fill sherry butt #128, 612 btl.)

Nose: slightly bulky sherry, with sticky toffee pudding, butterscotch and soaked raisins. Reminds me of GlenDronach Parliament, but coupled to a coastal side. Salted caramel. Also dark chocolate cake and hints of coffee. Liquorice and leather underneath. PX cask, I believe.

Mouth: quite fierce, still this thick sherry coating with even more salty notes. Dark chocolate with salt flakes. Chilli peppers, liquorice and coffee. Prune jam. Salted caramel. Roasted nuts. A herbal / minty edge too. Really intense, finding a better balance with water.

Finish: quite long, drier, with pepper, raisins and mint chocolate.

Rich sherry with hints of sea spray: perfect for lovers of this category. Available for around € 115, only from The Whisky Exchange (it went quick but I hear they have bottles in the shop).

Score: 87/100
