For the 50th anniversary of Kirsch Import (remember this Talisker?) they also released an exclusive bottling from Jean-Luc Pasquet. It is a Grande Champagne cognac, distilled in the same year as the foundation of the Kirsch business.
Cognac JL Pasquet Lot 76 – Grande Champagne (51,1%, OB for Kirsch Import ’50th Anniversary’ 2026)
Nose: a balanced mix of sweetness (ripe mirabelles, stewed figs, raisins and dried apricots) and drier, more refined mineral notes. Fresh minty notes and exotic wood oil. Then honeysuckle and floral honey. Subtle camphory notes, mild tobacco and roasted almond in the background. High energy.
Mouth: the mineral side is taken further towards resinous touches, hints of propolis and a little liquorice wood. Then back to orange peels, a little Earl Grey and chamomile. Hints of stewed apples, guava and sultanas. Tobacco comes out later, with cinnamon.
Finish: quite long, with drying hints of cedar and tobacco, along with a touch of mint and subtle blood orange.
Very classic, with a great interplay of fruits and drier mineral notes. Typical Grande Champagne, a great choice for a jubilee. Not sure you can still find bottles at this point.
