Arran 10 Year Old (2019)

Along with the rest of the core range, this Arran 10 Year Old was redesigned in 2019. Although I don’t think the liquid composition changed, this is always a good opportunity to try it again. My last review of this signature expression was back in 2018.

Nose: quite rounded, with a nice fruitiness at its core. Ripe apples, orange juice and lemon candy. Honeyed notes. Also a clean malty side with biscuits. Subtle dusty / herbal notes. Supple and well balanced.

Mouth: simple pleasures. Lots of apples, melons and pears, rather on the sweet side. Biscuits, a hint of cocoa and roasted malt. Cinnamon. A light herbal and woody side as well, with some peppery heat towards the end.

Finish: medium, clean, with more spicy oak and a hint of mapple syrup sweetness.

A nicely elegant mixture of fruits and a naked malty core. Some hints of sherry as well, simply a nice all-rounder. Available from The Whisky Exchange and Master of Malt for instance.

Score: 84/100
